As announced here is part 2 of the focus on Les Hommes, the brand imagined and created by belgian designers Tom Notte and Bart Vandebosch. (click here for part 1)
I have had the pleasure of attending the Les Hommes Autumn Winter 14 fashion show. And what a show.
The show took place on saturday january 11th at Palazzo Serbelloni in Milan, on Corso Venezia. The 18th century building was a gorgeous and perfect venue for the show, with its classical style, mirrors, gold, marble and chandeliers.
After discovering the brand a year ago, watching the autumn winter 13 show on my ipad, it was with great excitment that I attended this year’s show. Once I took my seat inside the venue I couldn’t wait for the show to start.
And suddenly it began. Lights, loud music, and a first model passes by in a black look that sets the tone of the new collection: a coat that mixes fabrics, with pony skin sleeves, a sweater that also plays with mixing fabrics, and the edgy detail of a metallic tie knot. In one look the Les Hommes man is defined: confident, strong silhouette, intricate details, aesthetic, elegant and incredibly stylish.

The fast paced show keeps on going, and there is so much to inspiration walking right in front of my eyes. The style codes that make the Les Hommes brand are all present: black looks, with black declined with the use of different fabrics, romanticism, expressed through foulards delicately worn around the shoulders as well as animal prints , sharp tailoring, with heavy habrics used for suits.
Suddenly a model enters wearing and oversized hat and scarf. I’m reminded of the “dark romanticism” inspiration of last year’s show but with a more contemporary approach. The look is fascinating and is repeated a few times throughout the show.
Contrast with the black looks is shown with a touch of (one my favourite colors) camel .
Time flies and it’s already the finale. The models all come back and seeing all the looks one below the other showcases the strength and coherence of the collection. I leave the room very impressed and inspired.

Congrats and warm applauses are in oder for the two designers who quickly pass by to greet the audience.
In honour of the show, I went for a Les Hommes – based look, wearing two pieces from the autumn winter 13 collection: the digital rose print trousers and t shirt. I paired them with this stunning Versace Collection silk jacket and my Valentino studded loafers, for a chic and elegant but contemporary look.
I hope you enjoyed reading this designer focus article and living the Les Hommes show with me through my experience.
Infashionably yours,
H
