« It’s a jungle out there ! »
Little did I know when putting on my Kenzo afro-print jacket before heading to the Salvatore Ferragamo ss16 menswear show in Milan that I would be perfectly matching the set. Guests were welcomed by a huge King-kongesque gorilla, in a space filled with a tropical flair.
The invitation itself already gave out a major clue about the collection : colorful stripes.
Indeed, colorblock short-sleeved tops worn over short-sleeved shirts featured eye-catching juxtaposition of colors. Neutral shades of kaki, brown and beige were popped by stripes of purple, yellow and turquoise!
Unexpected combinations which in the end work, thanks to the precise tailoring and sharp cuts of all garments.
Even though a few (sharp and colorful) suits came down the runway, the overall mood of the collection was more relaxed and could almost be defined as luxe streetwear. An easy feel expressed through the styling, with ties carelessly worn on top of layers of light shirts and tops.
Rigidity of geometrical shapes was softened by leather inserts or raffia embroidered- details.
Impecabble, refreshing and surprising, Ferragamo’s spring summer collection is playfuly enjoyable and elegantly luxurious.
I hope you enjoyed this new collection review.
InfasHionably yours,
