Anna Wintour’s daring new Metropolitan Museum of Art exhibition debuted last night with the grand annual Met Gala. Controversy or good excuse for costumey looks ?

Fashion’s biggest annual mass (pun intended) took place last night as usual. This first Monday of May saw Hollywood music and fashion A-listers gather in NYC, accepting the First Lady of fashion Anna Wintour’s invitation.
This year’s theme seemed quite controversial. Titled « Heavenly Bodies: fashion and the catholic imagination », the new Metropolitan Museum of Art’s exhibition is actually supported by the Vatican, represented at the inaugurative press conference by Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, cultural representant from the Holy City. Exclusive pieces have traveled all the way to NYC to be shown in the exhibition, such as historical Papal Tiaras. Alongside fashion designs from the likes of Gianni Versace to Riccardo Tisci and Valentino.
One could wonder how this theme would translate to the Met Gala’s red carpet.
How did you feel watching Rihanna walk in a beaded John Galliano minidress matching her Mitre? Fascinated or uneasy?
Looking at the men’s side, some kept it simple and chic in classic tuxedos while others went for full on interpretation of the theme in Dolce Gabbana or Gucci extravaganza.
